U.S. urges all parties in Armenia to engage in new negotiations

WASHINGTON, The U.S. has urged all parties in Armenia to engage in “good faith negotiations” for a new government in accordance with the Constitution.

The United States continues to monitor closely the situation in Armenia, said State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert in a statement, late on Saturday.

She affirmed that the U.S. supports the ongoing efforts of the Office of President Armen Sarkissian to facilitate dialogue between all parties, and to reach a resolution that reflects the interests of all Armenians.

“We continue to commend the peaceful nature of the demonstrations, trust the security forces, and those who are exercising their right to peaceful protest, will remain committed to non-violence in the days to come,” she remarked.
