AMMAN: The Ambassador of the UAE to Jordan Abdullah Nasser Al Ameri and representatives of international relief organization operating in Jordan to provide aid to Syrian refugees held a meeting at the UAE’s embassy in Amman to discuss the current efforts to improve the humanitarian conditions at the camps.
In remarks at the meeting, the ambassador noted that under directives from the prudent leadership of the UAE, and followed up by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA), the UAE’s humanitarian efforts in Jordan has so far provided over 45000 food packages and 15000 medical aid packages to Syrian refugees.
He added that the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the Red Crescent Authority and other charities will launch new relief initiatives for Syrian refugees.
UNHCR’s Representative in Jordan, Andrew Harper, the head of the International Organization for Migration mission in Jordan David Terzi, presentative of World Food Programme (WFP) Maha Ahmed and representatives of the UAE’s charities attended the meeting.
