UK unemployment rate falls to 4 pct in third quarter

LONDON, Britain’s unemployment rate has fallen to four percent in the third quarter of 2018, the lowest since 1975, official statistics reported Tuesday.

The number of unemployed individuals decreased by over 55,000 between May and July, bringing their total number to 1.36 million at the end of June, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Meanwhile, the total number of workers has increased to 32.4 million people in July, ONS said, adding the average earnings rose 2.9 percent annually without considering inflation.

The British labor markets remain “solid”, especially with the number of people working still at historically high levels, it mentioned.
