PARIS, France- The UNESCO/Amir Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Aal-Sabah Prize, for Digital Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, reflects Kuwait’s leading role for empowering the disabled, and merging them in society, a senior Kuwaiti diplomat said.
Kuwait’s Permanent Representative in UNESCO, Meshaal Hayat, made the statement, as he emerged from a meeting for the arbitration committee of the prize, at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
The closed-door meeting was devoted to assessing nominations for the prize.
Talking to KUNA, Hayat stressed the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s great interest in the persons with disabilities, and merging them in society.
Hayat emphasised the significance of the “humanitarian and unique” prize that draws the attention to over a billion disabled people around the globe, in addition to honouring the generous contributions by individuals and organisation in the field.
The Award Ceremony of the UNESCO/Emir Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Prize, for Digital Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, will be held at the UNESCO headquarters on Dec 2, coinciding with the celebrations of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.-
