UNRWA hails KZHF’s efforts for Palestinians

WAM Abu Dhabi, Feb 24th, 2013 (WAM) — The Khalifa bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation (KZHF) has discussed with United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), ways of boosting and developing mechanisms of cooperation and follow up of the humanitarian projects implemented by the KZHF within the UAE initiatives to support the Palestinian people.

This came during the meeting which held at the Foundation’s headquarter last Thursday between Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, Director-General of the Foundation and UNRWA Deputy Commissioner Peter Ford and other members.

They discussed the latest developments on the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories and the Syrian crisis and its bad impact on the Palestinian refugees, who fled for the second time to the neighboring countries of Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey.

For his part, Peter Ford affirmed the importance of the humanitarian role played by the UAE in supporting the Palestinian people, hailing the efforts undertaken by the KZHF in this regard and in particular easing the sufferings of the affected people besieged in Gaza, and improving their living conditions.

He pointed out the support given to the educational sector in Gaza Strip through the funding of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Primary School in Bait Lahia.
