US hands Lebanese Army four attack aircraft

BEIRUT, The Lebanese Army on Monday obtained four A29 Super Tucano attack aircraft from the US.

The Lebanese air forces received the attack aircraft at Hamat Air Base in northern Lebanon, as part of the US aid allocated to Lebanon, the command of Lebanese Army said in a statement.

Over the last years, the US delivered to Lebanon two similar aircraft, in addition to three Cessna fighter jets, to enhance the country’s fight capabilities.

The United States is the most prominent supportive country to the Lebanese Army and security forces in Lebanon.

The US aid provided to Lebanon has amounted to more than USD 1.5 billion since 2005. It included weapons, equipment, ammunition and programs for training.
