KUWAIT,Zanzibar’s Minister of Finance and Planning Khalid Salem Mohammed expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the State of Kuwait for its continuous support to the Zanzibar islands, especially the health and education.
This remark came during a meeting between Mohammad and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Tanzania Jassem Al-Najem.
He also invited Kuwaiti businessmen to invest in his country in various investments potentials including natural gas.
According to a statement by the Kuwaiti embassy obtained by KUNA, both sides discussed issues of common interests including Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED)’s loan to expand and re-equip the main hospital in Zanzibar.
The Zanzibari minister said that Zanzibar is about to witness a new era of its history after recent oil and gas discoveries, which will increase chances of economic cooperation with Kuwait. On his part, Ambassador Al-Najem affirmed his country’s keenness on developing ties with Zanzibar on all possible domains.
The relation between Kuwait and Zanzibar dates back to the early 20th century, said Al-Najem, affirming that this fact will surely play a factor in further improving relations in the near future.
